JOB DESCRIPTION

The vacation period refers to weeks 23 to 34, with two weeks of preparatory introduction. Please note that you need to be able to complete two weeks of paid full-time introduction before the summer substitute position. We also hope that you can work as a temporary substitute during the spring to feel well prepared and completely secure in the role when the summer substitute position begins.

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. The tasks at the prison and detention center vary: work in care, monitoring, searches, and security are mixed with release planning, conversations, and motivational work.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a correctional officer, you need to possess a high level of personal maturity by being secure and having good self-awareness. Since you and your colleagues form the core of our operations, you need to have good collaboration skills and be both attentive and clear in your communication with both clients and staff. It is important that you are stable and can exercise good self-control in stressful or pressured situations. In the role of correctional officer, good judgment is also required when prioritizing, acting, and making decisions. You have a physical condition that enables you to act physically when the situation requires it.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience. Internships and volunteer work are not accepted as work experience.
• Completed upper secondary education, or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.

It is an advantage if you also have:

• The ability to work the entire vacation period.
• Work experience from corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or health and care work.
• Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Good administrative skills, for example in report writing, record keeping, and other types of text processing.
• Other relevant language skills.
• A valid driver's license (B).

OTHER

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions that are relevant to the position. The answers to the selection questions and CV will form the basis for whether you are qualified to proceed in the process.
